"a classic pan to last for 30 uears" 2009-10-28
By Living Rural (MN)
We got a brown enameled Le Creuset French Oven for a wedding present, and still use it after 30 years, although it is discolored inside and a bit battered. Now I got a new blue one, slightly larger, and it is going to make lovely soups, stews, and braised roasts and chickens for the next 30 years too. Only cast iron lasts.

"Even Heat Dispersement, Handle With Care" 2009-01-12
By S. Kelliher (New York, USA)
I find this pot to be very good at evenly dispersing heat and maintaining a consistent temperature. This is especially nice while making items such as soups or sauces where the ingredients need to simmer for some time. The pot also looks quite pretty, but there is a small price to pay for this beauty: choose your stirring spoons and cleaning pads wisely. Metal spoons and wire or mesh scouring pads can scratch the enamel finish. Use wooden spoons and, if grit sticks to the bottom of the pot, just let it soak for a while and then remove it with a plastic scraper.

Oh, one other note of caution. If putting this in the oven, be mindful of the temperature. The cast iron can withstand high temperatures. But, the handle is plastic and can't go above something like 400 or 450 degrees F. I believe the exact temperature is in the product literature (in the box) and on the LeCreuset web site.

This enameled cast iron cook pot works very well, as expected. Foods such as soups, stews, braised meats, etc are all cooked much better than would happen in just an All-Clad pan or pot.

Very pleased with the purchase, the performance, the quality and the utility of this item.

 "One Fabulous Pot!" 2009-11-21
By J. Filak
As someone who loves to cook I can't believe I waited this long to experience how wonderful these Le Creuset pots are. I promptly made a delicious chili in mine when it arrived and not only did it cook great, it was lovely to serve from. Although these pots are expensive, they are worth it--a lifetime investment.

 "Le Creuset 5'1/2 Qt" 2009-11-14
By C. Kirschner
This is a fabulous kitchen staple to have. The size is perfect for most dishes. I waited years to get it because I thought it too heavy and expensive. I am not strong or young but the handles on the pieces make it fine to handle. I should be giving away things to my kids but love this cookware and finally bought it. Most of the time I cook for my husband and me but often enough for company too. Julia's Chicken with mushrooms and vegetables, the best I have made. Pasta sauce to rave reviews. Beef great. Going back to Julia Child Recipes and Cook's Slow and Easy Recipes. By the way I live near outlets and promptly drove down and bought the 3-1/2 Casserole in Yellow, the Soup Pot was 1/2 off and got that in Kiwi and the 2'1/2 Qt in Flame for 1/2 off the outlet price with a coupon. The colors are delicious and take me away to the south of France or Tuscany. It's a joy to cook with. You can get it on special sometimes from dept stores which is about the outlet price. Cooking is love. Life is short. So I leave less to my kids but they can divvy up the cookware. You won't be sorry. PS I just saw the 7-1/2 qt at Costco for the outlet price.

"Very misleading shipping pricing for international customers and poor service." 2009-10-16
By Timothy Peterson (Australia)
For customers outside North America CutleryAndBeyond offer very misleading shipping rates.

I purchased the Le Creuset round 5-1/2-quart French oven from CutleryAndBeyond. After 5 days they contacting me stating that the delivery fee to Australia was to be increased from the quoted price of US$19.95 to US$41.95. This made the product far from competitive compared to Australian retailers. After repeated email correspondants in which they gave lame excuses the transaction was cancelled. I am still waiting for my refund.

 "my favorite oven" 2007-11-08
By starrryswirl
last year my mother gave me 3 of her 20 year old le creuset pieces. since then i have been replacing all my cookware with le creuset. this is my favorite size of the ovens. i'm usually cooking for two, but prefer this as my pasta pot. it's GREAT for soup too, and to have when cooking for guests, potlucks or for leftovers. and you can put it right in the fridge after dinner. the clean up on all these pieces is the absolute best. highly recommend! (i was even using it as a larger skillet substitute for a short while!)

 "The 1# French oven" 2009-08-07
By S. Backes (WI)
Don't waste your money on a dutch oven that is "cheaper." This is really worth every penny you pay. I've tried the Lodge brand version of this, sure it's cheaper, but it's also made in China (yuck) and HUGE - in a wasted space kind of way (I was shocked by the lodge size when comparing it to this and it's only a 1/2qt size in capacity larger). This dutch oven for me is the perfect size and not nearly as heavy as I thought it was going to be. I also really love the cherry red color, don't settle for less than the best - this is dishwasher safe, can't say that for the other one. I'll be returning my lodge dutch oven and keeping Le Creuset for life!

"Essential for My Type of Cooking" 2009-05-24
By M. JEFFREY MCMAHON (Torrance, CA USA)
I bought this brand after Steve Sando recommended it in his book Heirloom Beans. As I've replaced meat with beans in my diet, I needed cookware that would help me cook beans in a way that would not make me miss meat.

I use my Le Creuset for making a variety of bean dishes that require slow cooking. After two dozen recipes, I haven't failed a dish yet. I partly attribute this to the even heat of this very heavy, sturdy French Oven.

So far, my Le Creuset has been the most important purchase for my kitchen needs. Highly recommended.

"Best pot I've ever owned!!!" 2009-05-15
By Nancy A. Breshears (Carrollton, TX USA)
This is a pricey pot, but it's worth every penny. You do not have to remove the lid to thicken or condense your chili, etc. Your chili will thicken and condense in this pot with the lid on. The lid is tight and fits perfectly on the pot and it is of the best quality. I love this pot!! I don't know how I managed without one for all of these years.

 "LOVE this Cookware!" 2009-01-07
By Cleopatra
My mother in law works at a local kitchen store which sells Le Creuset - and she absolutely loves to spoil us with new pots and pans from this line - I have lots of bakeware and pots - all in Kiwi.

This 5.5 quart is my favorite pot for many reasons - It's perfect for making a great jambalaya, stew or soup, and browning meats and onions, it's just big enough to make a full dinner for myself and my husband, while still having leftovers - I figure if I had children, I would probably prefer the 7.5 quart - which I'm hoping to purchase soon.

The enameled cookware is so easy to clean - and yes, it is heavy - but it's really not as heavy as some claim - it's not like you have to be a body builder to lift this thing - I even store it high up and it's no problem for me to take down or put back up - and I'm a little lady :)

I also plan on purchasing the buffet cooker - it looks like the perfect pot. And I'm interesting in trying out a couple of Le Creuset's stainless line - they look exceptional.

This entire line of cookware is a dream for those looking for high quality pots - It really is fun to cook again!
